The book "The
boy in the striped pyjamas" written by the irish novelist John
Boyne is situated during the World War II, when the jews
where persecuted by Hitler and send to concentration camps. Three
words that could describe the theme of the book would be discrimination, religion and open-minded. Discrimination is
when there's an unjust act or prejudicial treatment towards a certain category
of people, it could be because of their race, age, sex, or their likes and
dislikes. An example related to the book would be when the jews people are
being discriminated due to their religion, and are taken by Hitler into
concentration camps to be torture and finally killed. Religion is
believing on a superior power and being truly devoted to it. Since I'm a
catholic I belief in God, but there also other religions like the buddhism,
judaism, or hinduism. Religion can be seen in Boyne's novel because people are
being judge and killed due to their religion, in this case jews. Finally,
open-minded means to be open and willing to new ideas, cultures or customs, so
being unprejudiced. Being open-minded would've change everything, since the
jews wouldn't be judge because of their religion and there wouldn't be
a persecution and many innocent deaths.I choose this words, because I feel there all
related to the novel. If people of World War II would've been more open-minded
into different races or religions, then there wouldn't be any discrimination
due to being jews.
