Once Bruno arrives
to his new house, he is extremely disappointed because his new residence is the
opposite from his beloved home in Berlin. The new house is the only building in
a big territory and is been describe to be an empty, desolate place, and as the
loneliest place in the world with only three stories instead of five. Also the
bedrooms are being described to be all together in the top floor, the servants
sleeping in the basement, the ground floor being where the kitchen, dining
room, and Bruno’s father office are located. I could see how upset and
concerned Bruno was about their new living arrangements, since he dare to
challenge her mom by telling her is a bad idea, and in those times kids where
really respectful and even afraid of their parents. I can relate to the way
Bruno was feeling, because when I change schools I also was really sad for
having to leave my school and my friends behind and somehow disappointed to
what came instead. And I felt just like Bruno’s mother told him, that sometimes
we don’t have the luxury of thinking, there are always some people that make all
the decisions for us. Also my mother was always telling me to, “make the best
of a bad situation”, just like Bruno’s mother, so to take advantage of this new
experience.
