In this chapter, the Fury comes over as Father’s guest to eat
dinner. When Bruno asks his father who the Fury is, the author is portraying
very good the personality and innocence of a nine year old and he continues to
create a kind of shallow image for Gretel since she always is trying to show
off and trying to hard to look smarter than everyone else. When the Fury
arrives Bruno keeps being his curious self, while Gretel tries to show off when
mentioning she speaks French. To what Hitler answers, that there was only one
language that was important to know and that was German; which demonstrates how
the Fury looks down to everyone and believes he is superior because he is
German. When the night was over Bruno watches how rude and impolite the Fury is
to Eva, a beautiful blonde woman, since he didn’t open the door of the car for
her. To what Bruno consider he was “a horrible man”. I can relate to this
chapter, because when I was little about Bruno’s age my mother always created
some rules when we were having guests and visitors over at my house, just like Father did.
